TALA News

December 2011

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Prophet Bar! We had a great show and Eric fit right in.

Well, we're in the mastering stage of our recording process for Big Bad Black Socrates-EP. All songs are mixed and fully tracked and almost ready to send off. BBBS-EP will be an unusual release. Due to the high cost and obsolescence of the CD format for a 7-song EP, we've decided to do a digital-only release. Thanks to CD Baby, there are some creative options at our disposal. We will be selling stickers of the album cover with an attached digital download code. Preorders will begin this weekend at White Rock Coffee for $5. We will also be introducing some new package deals for the holidays. For $15 you can preorder (or purchase after Dec. 16th) the new EP, a copy of Backseat Lover and a free copy of our first release, Big Horn Sessions-EP! You will also be able to purchase a CD hard copy of BBBS (for those of us who are less technologically savvy) for an additional $1.

We have plenty of shows on the horizon. The official release party will be at the Prophet Bar on December 16. We will also have a holiday show on December 23 at White Rock Coffee and a New Year's Eve party at the Liquid Lounge. The NYE show has kind of a strange ticketing policy--the show is 17+, and ticket prices are $7 in advance through us and $15 at the door. There will be an additional $5 cover for everyone under 21 at the door. You can purchase your tickets at any one of the upcoming shows or in person form any one of us. EVERYONE must have an ID to present at the door. I know that all seems a bit much, but I promise that it'll be worth it. Why not welcome the New Year with some TALA?

ANNOUNCING-TALA has chosen a new lead guitar player—Eric Rice (no relation to Adam, but we’re starting a rumor that they’re twins, so hush). I went to church with him as a kid, and Dillon went to elementary school with him. He plays kind of a classic rocky-bluesy style that seamlessly fits in with the TALA sound. We are excited to have him on board.

In case you haven’t heard and were wondering what I was talking about, we are going to release a four or five song EP comprised of outtakes from Backseat sessions and all new music (including a couple of holiday tunes). Our release date is the 16th of December just in time for the holidays (I smell a TALA holiday gift pack…). This release will include the long anticipated full-length version of our heavy metal epic, ‘There’s A War On’ along with the two new singles ‘A Home’ and ‘Comin' Back’ and hopefully one or two never-before-heard tracks! We will start promotional gigging next week.

Dillon and I have decided to turn the studio and skills we have developed during the creation of Backseat Lover into our own label-Big Horn Records. Backseat Lover and Big Bad Black Socrates-EP will be the first releases under Big Horn Records, but we are looking to expand outside of just doing our own stuff. If you or someone you know is looking for an affordable recording option, send me an email detailing your request, and I'll get back to you on pricing. We will be doing not only recording, but also mixing, mastering, album art, as well as promotional photography.

And finally, Backseat Lover is out on iTunes! I would like to encourage you all to write reviews for us and to rate the album, or to buy it so that we can begin to grow in popularity on iTunes (or iTubes as I like to call it). Also keep an eye open for BBBS-EP on CD Baby later this week!

If would like to become a part of our street team, the WTF (Working TALA Fans), to help us promote our new album or our upcoming shows, shoot me an email and I'll add you to our street team email list.

APERTUBE

APERTUBE

‘Apertube’ is a new interactive feature on our website designed especially for fans who attend shows. Every month, we will have a photo contest for the best Tube Amp Love Affair photos! Our chosen winners each month will have their photos displayed on the TubeAmpLoveAffair.com homepage and Facebook group as well as included in the TALA email. Photos may be submitted on Facebook by tagging ‘Tube Amp Love Affair’ in the photo, or via email. If your photos are on a photosharing website, such as Flickr, make sure that they are available for download and then send me the link to Austin@tubeamploveaffair.com. We’re really excited to see what you can show us! (Don’t worry about ‘annoying’ us onstage by taking pictures, get as close as you want to get a good shot).

This month's Apertube winner is Gibson, our photographer (do I see a possible album cover?)! Photo attached!

Tube Check

'Tube Check' is an interactive feature on our website. We will have periodic trivia contests, surveys etc that will provide us with feedback from you all.

This month’s Tube Check will be a survey. Send me an email back to Austin@tubeamploveaffair.com with a request for a Christmas song to be played at one of the upcoming shows!
